Date Rape Victims Outcry and Support

I want to help anyone who has ended up in a similar situation. I help people from child protective and domestic abuse services every day and keep the town I work in free from drug dealers and now am being accused of being a drug and alcohol abuser myself. calls. What do you do when law enforcement prefers to charge you with DUI and are not able to recognize the difference or be willing to protect anymore.

Being treated like a criminal instead of a victim

Unfortunately, women are at the mercy of even the enforcers of the law. I hope my story has not happened to someone else, but if it has, please let me know and we may be able to help each other. Here is what happened to me, I was very upset with friends of mine and decided to stop at a small town bar on my way home to unwind. When I arrived, there was a pretty good band playing and a group of girls dancing. I got myself a beer and joined them. I made a request of the band to play my favorite song, Mustang Sally, which they played almost immediately, I got a second beer, took a quick sip, set it on the table and began to dance which made me start to feel much better about everything. I went back to the table, sat down drank some more of my beer and do not remember anything at all after that. I apparently got into my car later that evening and drove about 10 minutes away and was stopped by a Maryland deputy, which I also don't remember. I was handcuffed and placed into a detox facility instead of being taken to a hospital. I only remember bits and pieces of the entire event and was not aware that I had been raped until the following day when the officers released me to my husband. At this point, I am facing criminal charges of driving under the influence and the person or persons that did this to me are walking around free and probably doing this to other women. Based on what has happened to me and the fact that I still have a court hearing to face along with the costs of an attorney, I would like to know of anyone else in the world that has had a similar instance occur. The officers are claiming I had an alcohol blackout, but based on my research, in a blackout you would not remember anything at all, not bits and pieces of the nights events and feeling like you are in a dreamlike state with out of body experiences. I hope we can all help each other deal with the anger and depression caused by being treated like criminals and the pain of knowing that police officers are not trained in recognizing the difference.
